Where we come from

Bohicket Appliance Repair runs from 555 Linger Longer Dr on Johns Island — a few minutes from the Maybank Highway and Bohicket Road split that sends the island’s traffic either toward Charleston or down to the Kiawah and Seabrook gates. Starting the day there puts the whole lower Lowcountry within easy reach: the island itself, Wadmalaw down Maybank, James Island and Folly over the Stono, West Ashley over the Limehouse Bridge, and the peninsula when the schedule calls for it.

What we chose not to be

We don’t chase every appliance ever made. Six machines — dryers, washers, refrigerators and freezers, the stove-range-oven stack, dishwashers and the ice makers inside refrigerators — get all of our training time and all of the room on the truck. Microwaves, wine coolers, standalone ice machines and commercial kitchen gear aren’t on the list, and when a call falls outside our lane we say so before anyone pays for a visit.

Why the name

Bohicket Creek runs along the south side of Johns Island, and Bohicket Road is the way everyone on this end of the island gets home. It’s the kind of name you only know if you live here — which is the point. This is a local shop, run for the people on this side of the Stono.
