Salt air is the whole story

Nothing on Folly lasts the way it does inland. Salt corrodes gas igniters, dryer sensors and the contacts in control panels; humidity felts dryer lint; sand finds its way into washer pumps. The machines in the beach rentals along East and West Arctic and Ashley take a full season of turnovers in a few months. We know the fault list here well, and we carry the parts that salt takes first.

Rentals, turnovers and year-round homes

A lot of our Folly calls come from rental managers with a Saturday changeover: the washer quit Thursday, the next guests arrive at four. We schedule inside the window, work with lockboxes and keypads, and test the machine through a full cycle before we leave. For year-round residents on the back streets and out toward the county park, the service is the same — with honest advice about when a salt-worn machine has earned its replacement.

Do you charge a beach surcharge for Folly?

No. $99 diagnostic, same prices as Johns Island. Folly is about half an hour from the shop and it’s on the route regularly.

Can you work a rental turnover on a Saturday?

Saturdays are working days for us, and Folly turnovers are exactly what they’re for. Tell us the check-out and check-in times when you book.

Salt has been at my dryer for ten years. Fix or replace?

We’ll tell you at the diagnostic. If it’s a sensor or an element, fix it. If the cabinet and drum are corroded through, we’ll say so and the $99 is the whole bill.
